Gashinyira located in the province of Bururi, not far from the center of Matana is a very important historical place for Burundi. It is considered as the cradle of Ntare Rushatsi Cambarantama first king of unified Burundi, founder of the ganwa dynasty who reigned for centuries over the country. The ganwa dynasty governed without interruptions since the 16th century until the end of the monarchy in 1966.
